Kelly Drake (Pet Care Specialist)

My name is Kelly and I am a Certified Professional Pet Care Specialist with Fur Baby Comfort & Care, a professional pet sitting business that prides itself on providing peace of mind to Fur Baby owners. Adding the role as a Pet Care Specialist to my life only made sense, as I run my own “pet care” at home. Alongside my husband, 2 daughters and son, we care for 4 cats (all adopted from foster care), 2 indoor rabbits, 2 cockatiels, 1 American toad, a black moor goldfish that outgrows his tank annually, a flock of chickens, and an Doberman name Penelope - who has taught me what it looks like to  own and care for a reactive dog. Instead of giving up, as some may, my relationship with her sent me head first into studying canine behavior, psychology, and training methodology; sparking a new passion for dog training and allowing me to give her a calmer and more fulfilling life, thus enhancing my own. On top of all those feathers and fur, I am a homeschool mom who has found that pet ownership has been a wonderful way to teach responsibility, empathy, and critical thinking under pressure to my children. As a life long animal lover, I have also owned horses, volunteered on and off with Horses Haven, and fostered nearly 50 kittens in the past 6 years that have gone on to find their purrfect homes - through that process I have learned to give intravenous and subdermal medications as well as care for day old kittens - watching them learn each new step of life. Pet ownership, like parenting, is a blessing that teaches us empathy, patience, and resilience. It is my goal that every pet I care for feels safe and loved and that their owners can trust that their own fur baby will be treated with respect and care, just as I would my own.
